CHATTING WITH REGINA KING ABOUT ENJOYING CHAMPAGNE
Pink Champagne, LOL, does that count? I had no business drinking at that age but I thought we were doing something special.
What were you celebrating at such a young age?
Sneaking a drink!
What’s your favorite champagne?
We think anytime is a good time for champagne. When are you likely to pop a cork on a bottle of bubbly?
I just adopted the ‘anytime is a good time for champagne’ mentality. I’m more of a wine drinker, but Prosecco really does go great with fried chicken.
What champagne is in your fridge or wine cellar right now?
Piper Heidsieck Brut and Rose and Piper Sonoma.
What do you love about champagne?
The bubbles. They make you burp like beer but aren’t as heavy. And champagne tastes MUCH better!
Why do you think champagne has stayed so popular and is still a luxury icon?
The presentation. When you pop the cork you automatically feel like you’re celebrating, even if it’s just a backyard BBQ. And the glasses make drinking champagne sexy.
What champagne accessories do you own and love?
I don’t have anything special. I just got into champagne over the past couple of years, so I’m still using the Calvin Klein glasses somebody gave me for a wedding gift 15 years ago. I’m not married anymore but I still have the glasses.
What do you love to eat with your champagne?
I like bubbly and I’m discovering you can find a bottle that goes with almost every food except red meats. There is probably one out there but I haven’t come across it yet.
What music do you love to listen to while sipping bubbly?
Harry Connick Jr. singing My Blue Heaven.
